I provide a warm, calming, supportive, and non-judgemental presence for my clients to help them during the stressful experience of therapy. I am interested in helping people to identify their values and create a life guided by these ideals. I am diagnosed with ADHD and have a particular interest in working with clients in this area.
Before becoming a therapist I worked in case management in the housing and homelessness sector, advocating for clients with complex needs. Working with this client base helped me to become flexible and adaptive in how I talk and work with people. It was also necessary to interact with many government and non-government agencies, giving me insight into the tensions and stressors of working within large bureaucracies.
During my twenties I spent time living in both Amsterdam and London. While overall found these experiences enriching, in London I had periods of isolation and depression caused by the unaffordability of the city. These experiences showed me how isolation and economic factors can impact mental health.
While helping people is my main motivator for the work that I do, my greatest satisfaction comes from working with clients one on one. I find the close and direct connection which therapy provides immensely satisfying, and seeing people grow and improve gives me a great sense of success and purpose. This realisation led me to complete a masters in social work and switch careers from case management to therapy.
